The World of Warcraft servers are almost always live, but occasionally, they do go down. Knowing when they go down and when they'll become back online will help you plan your playing sessions.
On a regular basis, WoW servers go down for a short maintenance period around 9am CT. Most of the time, this server downtime is listed as being an hour long, but it almost always takes significantly less time than the normal downtime.
The weekly downtime lasts between five and ten minutes, occasionally even less.
To keep up-to-date on server maintenance, players can check WoW's "Service Status" forums.
Blizzard's customer service account on Twitter will also tweet about server issues or maintenance.
